Sony rolls out 3D-capable Cyber-shots with full HD video recording mode

And we get yet another batch of 3D-enabled gadgets – this time from Sony. The company today announced three new Cyber-shot cameras, two of which feature the 3D sweep panorama function the cameras from the NEX series now also have (the function allows you to sweep the camera from side to side to capture a high-speed burst of 100 frames, which are then automatically stitched together).

Listing for “Arc Touch Mouse” suggests a Microsoft response to Apple’s Magic Mouse

You may remember the Arc Mouse, an attractive and portable little thing (marred in my opinion by the sensor placement) I reviewed back in ‘08. It’s a nice design, perhaps one of Microsoft Hardware’s best, and now there are signs pointing to a touch-based update — perhaps using one of the technologies I saw on my visit to Microsoft Labs.

Tetris creator has been working on true multiplayer Tetris for “more than 10 years”

Tetris is among the most widely-played games in history. So why is it that relatively few (in my experience) have every truly played it with another person? Probably because the multiplayer Tetris variants have been — well, more hacks than anything else. Sure, linked Gameboy Tetris was awesome, and there are established multiplayer Tetris communities, but as far as the creator of the game is concerned, we’re “not quite there yet.”

Google disappears apps from phones – it’s like magic!

While this isn’t quite on the level of Amazon’s 1984 nonsense, Google did just demonstrate their willingness to remotely detonate apps they deem malicious. In this case, it was a couple dummy apps put up by a researcher — probably trying to figure out why people download what they download. At any rate, he took them off the market after a while, and the Android security team decided to nuke the remaining installs.

TRON controllers will be available for purchase

Rejoice User! Devin won’t be keeling over from auto-erotic asphyxiation after all. The TRON controllers that he saw at E3 and threatened to hold his breath over? Well, they are going to be for sale. To be honest, I haven’t considered replacing my stock Xbox 360 controllers until this point, but now I’m afraid I have no choice.

Borders’ Kobo e-reader now comes with $20 gift certificate; iPhone, iPad App now available

The wonderful thing about all these e-readers is that so long as you buy one that has honest-to-goodness E-Ink (Kindle, nook, Kobo, etc.) you’re basically using the same device. The most important part of an e-reader is the screen, so when all the big guys use the exact same technology, well, you should be just fine. Then it comes down to store quality: does Amazon have the books you want to read or does Barnes & Noble or Borders? That’s the most “research” you’ll have to conduct.
