IBM is jumping into the web analytics software space with the acquisition of San Mateo, CA company Coremetrics. With the purchase, IBM intends to expand its business analytics capabilities with Coremetrics’ cloud-based delivery platform, which enables companies to gain real-time insight into consumer interactions internally through social and other online media networks to increase the performance of their marketing campaigns. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Twitter on Thursday announced that it had acquired Smallthought Systems, the company behind an analytics service called Trendly that tracks real-time changes and user trends for Web site owners.
Host Analytics Grabs $15 Million For Performance Management Software
Host Analytics, a company that develops performance management software for the enterprise, has raised $15 million in Series C funding led by Next World Capital, with existing investors ATV Capital, StarVest Partners and Trident Capital participating in the round. This brings the company’s total funding up to nearly $30 million.
